    (3) Jointly Publications

  • Outcome Feature Description

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Brown University and the Education Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston, which represents the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan), was officially signed in February, 2016. This project lasts for three years, beginning October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2018.

Under the agreement of MOU signed in February, the inaugural Nexus Taiwan Conference “Repositioning Taiwan and the United States---from Formosa to the Present” was successfully held in April, 2016 at Brown University. Dozens of scholars and professors from Taiwan who are specialized at Taiwan Studies were invited to Brown as our speakers. Hundreds of faculties and students in the U.S. and other countries all gather at Brown to exchange their research findings and explore the topics including immigration, diaspora, displacement, and international relations through historical and cultural perspectives.

In 2015-16 academic year, Brown University commits to develop a new course focused on Taiwan “Collecting Cultures: Exhibiting Indigeneity in Taiwan and the United States” which also includes the experiential learning and teaching program to Taiwan.

This three-year project will enhance and make broadly available knowledge about the history, society, and cultures of Taiwan, and its interaction with the Americas. It will serve as a driving force to foster the cooperation between Brown University and universities in Taiwan.
